New York attorney, Elliot Dear, has been suspended from the practice of law for falsely accusing a New Jersey police officer of making racial remarks during a traffic stop.

According to reports, Mr. Dear asked the traffic court to dismiss his speeding ticket because the officer concocted the story and called him a derogatory Jewish name.

Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the police's internal affairs conducted an investigation.  As part of their investigation, they interviewed Mr. Dear wherein he reaffirmed his prior statement.

Unbeknownst to Mr. Dear, the traffic stop was recorded and easily dismissed his claims.  As such, a disciplinary complaint was opened against Mr. Dear and his the disciplinary committee elected to suspend his law license.
