About the Court:  Schodack Town Court is a court of local jurisdiction located in Rensselaer County.  It is part of the larger 3rd Judicial District of the New York State Court Administration.

As a court of local jurisdiction, the judges have limited power to adjudicate cases.  In other words, not very case can be heard in this court.  For the most part, civil cases are limited up to $3,000.00 in controversy.  Most litigants will refer to these cases as small claims cases.  Some examples of civil cases may include property damage cases, contract disputes, and landlord tenant cases.  Largely, criminal cases are limited to misdemeanor crimes.

This chart will help first time speeders quickly ascertain how many points they are facing.
