Route 199, Pine Plains, NY. It
consists of 6 smaller villages and hamlets and is Columbia County. The clerk of the court is Maryanne

The court employs two part time judges who share the judicial
caseload.
Two Judges
NYS Town Law codifies the rules and regulates which mandate
that town courts employ two elected justices. Each justice of the court take an oath of office in swear to
up hold the laws of the United State Constitution.
Traffic Tickets
While Pine Plains maintains jurisdiction of misdemeanor
matters and civil cases referred to as small claims cases, the majority of
cases heard in this court are traffic tickets such as speeding ticket and cell phone
tickets. This is due in part to
the court’s jurisdictional proximity to the Route 82 and Route 199 thoroughfares.
These are NYS Police patrolled roads with the highest frequency of speeding violations in the jurisdiction.
There are many different police agencies that share
jurisdictional powers in Pine Plains.
These police forces include but are not limited to the local Pine Plains
Police, Park Police, County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Police.
Traffic Court is usually held once a week. Traffic tickets have traditionally been
prosecuted by the officers that have issued the summons.
