Westchester Traffic Lawyer

Westchester County Police

In Westchester County, traffic tickets can be issued by a large number of police agencies.  Tickets are issued by local police agencies such as Yorktown Police, Yonkers Police, and North Castle Police.  Other tickets are issued by the New York State Police.  Those tickets are usually issued on State patrolled highways such as I-87 and I-287.  Some tickets are issued by the New York State Park Police for violations occurring in State Parks such as FDR Park.  Other tickets are also issued by the Westchester County Police.  The county traffic tickets tend to be issued on County highways such as the Saw Mill River Parkway and Hutchinson River Parkway. 

Westchester County Police

The Westchester County Police tickets tend to be prosecuted by the officer that issued the summons.  In other words, these tickets are not prosecuted are not prosecuted by a prosecutor.  

The vast majority of tickets issued by the County Police are for speeding.  However, they also issue tickets for a variety of moving violations such as operating a commercial vehicle on a parkway, failure to move over in violation of VTL 1144-a, and DWI.
