Lawyers Protecting Truckers For More Than a Decade

On January 13, 2012, a new law regulating trucks in New York State was put officially on the books.  Trucks are now required to have "cross over" mirrors on the front of their vehicles.

The law has passed scrutiny by the State Legislature and the signed by Governor Cuomo.

The law is aimed at preventing pedestrian accidents and helping truck drivers see pedestrians as they cross in front of their vehicle's blind spot.  Similar mirrors have been required on school buses since the 1970s.  Advocates for the law praise the legislature for their prompt action in enacting this law.  Conversely, some trucking associations oppose the law and seek to have it repealed.
