The Dreaded Speeding Ticket

Being found guilty of a speeding ticket can result in points being assessed against a driver’s license.  The lowest level speeding ticket is 3 points and the highest level is 11 points.

If a driver has been convicted of multiple speeding tickets in an 18-month period, the fines will significantly increase.

This chart will help you quickly determine  how many points you are facing.

Pleading Guilty By Mail

When a driver pleads guilty by mail, it is the same thing as being convicted after a trial.  In other words, there is finality to plea.  Attempting to vacate a speeding ticket can be difficult, time consuming, and expensive. So before you check off Box A and plead guilty, you should consider all of the possible consequences to the plea including but not limited a license suspension, a New York State Driver’s Responsibility Assessment fee, and insurance increases.
