About The Court
The TVPA is located at 16 Cooper
Street, Hempstead, NY 11550-4063. It is responsible for adjudicating traffic tickets. For general questions, the court can be
reached at 516-572-2700.
- Court is held Monday through Friday
- Doors Open and Payments Accepted 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Court in Session 9:00am – 11:30am. No admittance after 11:15am
- Court in Session 2:00pm – 4:00pm. No admittance after 3:30pm
- Evening hours will be the second Wednesday of each month
Mission Statement
The Agency's primary mission is to “maintain and enhance
both pedestrian and vehicular safety through education and timely adjudication
of parking and traffic violations.”
Pleading Not
Guilty
It is important that you read your ticket thoroughly and
follow the instructions as exactly as they are written. Failure to follow the instructions can
result in your license being suspended and a default being held against you.
Mandatory Court
Appearances
Some tickets in the TVPA have a mandatory court appearance
requirement. These tickets include
but are not limited to:
1 Committing a second or subsequent charge for the
same offense within an eighteen-month period;
2 Any Speeding Offense;
3 Passing a stopped school bus;
4 Driving under or around railroad crossing gates;
5 Unlawfully issuing an inspection certification;
6 Operating an unregistered motor vehicle repair
shop;
7 Failure to yield right of way to an emergency
vehicle;
8 Failure of an emergency vehicle operator to use
reasonable care;
9 Leaving scene of incident
10. Utilizing
plates not issued by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles or improper plates or
indistinctive plates.
Speeding Ticket Points
A conviction
to a speeding ticket and result in as little as three points against a driver’s
license and as much as eleven. A
driver’s speed will dictate the number of points that are assessed against a
driver’s license.
