Judicial Jurisdiction

Wawarsing Town Court is a court of limited jurisdiction.  It cannot adjudicate every case in the State.  For example, civil cases are limited up to $3,000.00 in controversy.  It cannot preside over matters of divorce and child custody.  It can preside of misdemeanor criminal cases and non-felony traffic tickets.  Some example of traffic tickets filed in this court are cell phone violations, speeding tickets, and child seatbelt violations.
