The court is easily accessible from the Metro North train
station. It is approximately 2 blocks from the Pelham Station. It is adjacent to the police department
and Town offices. The court does
not have a dedicated court parking lot.
There are many metered parking spots on the street which is sufficient
to accommodate the court attendees.
There are two presiding justices in Pelham. They are elected to a four year
term. The judges have the power to
preside of local court cases which include but are not limited to speeding
tickets, misdemeanor cases, and landlord tenant cases.
Court Tip
When
you arrive in court, you will be instructed to traverse through a metal
detector. It is important to leave all metal objects either at home or in your
car. The court is a large building
and is reminiscent of an old church.
Upon entering, you should have a seat and wait for your case to be
called.
On days when traffic court is held, civil matters are also
heard. Civil cases are heard first
and traffic will be heard thereafter.
Criminal cases are prosecuted by the Westchester County
District Attorneys Office.
Meanwhile, most traffic cases are prosecuted by the officers that issued
the tickets.
If you are unable to attend a traffic court conference date
issued by a court, our law firm can stand in your place. In other words, there is no need for
you to appear in court and miss work, school or any other social obligation.
